How can you get your customers to understand why they should come to you instead of buying a mass produced item? When everyone's looking for the easiest and cheapest options to buy, it's actually those who love the handmade marketplace that want to slow down for a moment and actually understand the maker's story. I mean, that's part of why you got into the handmade business to begin with, right? You want to create something more special and unique than just what comes from the big box stores.

As a maker, it's really important that a huge component of your business revolve around your story. That's what makes people interested in what you do, why you do it, and how you're so amazing at it. They want to know more about how all of that comes together into creating a beautifully crafted item just for them. So while it's great to put all of your items on display and market your wares, it's also high time that you started putting more of you into your business.

The best way to do this is to use video. These days this is the medium to be using if you actually want to capture someone's attention and get them to instantly connect with you. It's like a movie trailer that makes you so excited for that movie to come out versus reading about one in the paper and wondering if it's a good fit. Your customers need a visual of your business, and you need to be part of that visual.
